£500 holds your date
That is all it takes to book me. The balance is due nearer the day, and I am happy to split it if that suits you better.
If your wedding is more than a year away, you do not have to lock your collection in now. The fee secures the date and we shape the rest closer to the time, once you know how your day is actually going to run.
The bit everyone thinks and nobody asks
You have just looked at the prices. Here is what usually goes through your head next, answered straight.
Will we actually watch it again?
That depends entirely on the format, which is why every collection is built the way it is. A two or three minute film gets opened on anniversaries, sent to your gran, and put on at parties. A single 45-minute recording of the ceremony gets watched once and then sits there. So you get both, and they do different jobs. The short one is the one you will actually re-watch. The long one is the one you will be glad exists in twenty years.
Is it worth the money?
Most published wedding film prices in Scotland sit somewhere between about £1,000 and £2,000. I sit above that, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Two honest caveats though. Most of the studios charging more than me do not publish a price at all, so the published range is not the whole market, it is just the part you can see. And the cheaper end is usually one camera, a shorter day and a faster edit, which is a genuinely different product rather than the same one for less.
What I would say is this. Compare what is actually included, not the headline. Late coverage is charged by the hour almost everywhere, typically £100 to £500 on top, and on Signature it is already in the price.
Why does it cost this much?
Because it is roughly a working week per wedding, not a day. The day itself is 10 to 14 hours, and on Signature I am with you from the morning prep through to 1am. Then it is around 35 hours of editing: ingesting the cards, syncing five cameras, grading every shot, and mastering the audio so you can hear the vows over the wind and the coughing.
The cinematic film alone is about 14 of those hours. That is why it costs more than the Full Edit despite being a fraction of the length. Nobody sees any of that work, which is exactly why I would rather show you it than argue about the number.
We are awkward on camera.
Almost everyone says this, and it is the reason I work the way I do. There is one of me, not a crew. I do not do shot lists, I do not pose anyone, and I will not stop your day to set something up. I film what happens. The couples who told me they would be terrible on camera are in the films on this site, and you cannot tell which ones they are.
What if we just skip the video?
Plenty of couples do, and some of them are fine with it. The one thing worth knowing before you decide: photographs cannot hold a voice. They cannot hold your dad's speech going off script, or the noise the room made when you said your vows, or how your partner actually sounds saying your name. That is the part people tell me they did not realise they wanted until it was the only place it still existed.
Do you travel?
Fife-based, but I have filmed weddings as far as Ibiza and Sorrento. If your venue is not in Scotland, ask. Travel is rarely the blocker people assume it is.
